Last spring was so warm and sunny that it brought all the butterflies out early, as my studio is in the garden I was able to observe them first hand. I think we all needed a pick me up then and I was so inspired I started experimenting with layers of glass, painting and colour. The end result was a range of larger than life butterflies in glass, with bright colours and painted veins. This year I have been making clear butterflies to use as slump tests to angle the wings. watch this space!
Sales in my online Etsy shop have been strong with small hanging birds making idea presents. Many have flown out across the UK and further afield. Etsy allows gift messaging the buyer to send to another address, which works really well when we can't visit real shops!
I also have a list of new birds visiting our garden to capture in glass, the most exciting of which is a family of nuthatch.
With no actual events allowed, I have been taking part in online markets that are nearly as lovely and means I can interact with buyers and other makers virtually. I have one each month for the next three months. These can be found by using the links below.
