I am a 3D fibre artist living and creating in the beautiful natural landscape of The Forest of Bowland.
I take inspiration from the forms and variety of the flora and fauna in my garden and local area to design and create unique, handmade, needle felted birds, animals and other 3d decorative items using natural fibres, mainly wool.
I have had a love of drawing and creating since childhood, and following Art A level and an Art Foundation year, I worked in industry for over 30 years. I am delighted that I now have the time to pursue and develop my interest in arts and crafts. I enjoy attending courses and learning the processes of different textile crafts, and discovered needle felting around 5 years ago. I have since loved developing my felting skills, investigating techniques and learning how to manipulate natural fibres into the birds and animals I see around me.
Since moving to The Forest of Bowland, my love of nature and the countryside has been further inspired and has lead me to create my series of garden birds. The bird feeders constantly need refilling, and an endless moving queue forms in the trees around them of acrobatic Blackbirds, Robins, Woodpeckers, Finches, Nuthatches and Bluetits all vying for the best position on the feeders. They and the hares and squirrels who visit regularly provide me with a constant source of interest, inspiration and pleasure.
I enjoy attending local Art fairs and am now pleased to be invited to join Lancashire Makers as a Guest Artist.
